Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) - Scaling up GitLab on a university campus

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a university in the south of the Netherlands, in the Brainport / Eindhoven Smart Region. At the start of 2022, the area of Research within the Library and Information Services (LIS) department decided to prioritize research tooling and services for further development. Instead of tinkering with the service and infrastructure that was already in place, the team decided to look for external expertise, emphasizing compliance with internal policies such as cloud, security, privacy, and architecture. Because most SaaS offerings would require additional measures to be compliant within various industry collaborations, to address the policies for privacy, security, and cloud, TU/e opted for a self-managed GitLab instance, hosted by a third party in Europe. An Eficode-managed private Gitlab instance with on-demand consultancy was selected. TU/e looked for a partner that could help accurately estimate the resources needed for the current workload, and could grow with them as the university’s organic growth and adoption of GitLab increased. As a result, they outsourced day-to-day management of GitLab, allowing the IT team to focus on specialized support.

 

 

 

A major UK financial institution selected Eficode's managed DevOps platform

A major UK financial institution was searching for a suitable provider to move from multiple decentralized software development tools for approximately 10,000 end-users to a centralized GitLab DevOps platform in Amazon Web Services (AWS) offered as a managed service. Having already worked with several large finance clients, Eficode has vast GitLab expertise and knowledge in that domain and at that scale. So upon recommendation, Eficode, and its Managed Service, Eficode ROOT was selected. Through Eficode ROOT, Eficode supported the client company with customized solutions - a great advantage when setting up a toolchain with many security requirements. Delivering GitLab DevOps platform through Eficode ROOT as a managed service allows the client to focus on software development, instead of tooling maintenance, hosting, upgrades, integrations, and other non-value-added work. The client also notices their teams becoming more satisfied due to increased trust in tools and reduction of time spent on tooling maintenance.
